Hi everyone! Welcome to my site, Love our Pit Bulls.
My name is Jen and for the last 10 years I have had the pleasure of raising two Pit Bulls, Riley and Brooke.
They are a handful but they are also loyal, loving, amazing, joyful dogs. They are my best friends who I will always stand up for.
A little about me-
My family owns and operates a pet care facility outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has for the last 40 years. Growing up I preferred spending time with my dogs over the neighborhood kids, and I am pretty much the same way now.
I carried what I learned in my childhood into my adult life and now if I see an animal in need, I will do all that I can to help. Currently I have 2 Pit Bulls, 3 cats and 1 foster cat.
Even thought I love all dogs, ultimately it is the Pit Bull who has really captured my heart.
I adopted my Pit Bulls 6 years ago and now I can’t imagine my life without them.
Because of Riley and Brooke, I created home-made bumper stickers with their pictures and plastered them all over my car, just to show everyone that I am a Pit Bull mom and proud of it.
Because of these two dogs, I donate to many local rescue organizations and get family members and friends to donate as well.
Thanks to them, I personally know how wonderful raising a Pit Bull can be.
Unfortunately, because of their appearance, I also know what I am up against, every single day.
There are so many negative, biased, almost mythical stories out there that it can be difficult to be heard.
If you search the definition of a Pit Bull online, you will see sites about killer dogs, locking jaws, and discriminatory legislation that has been put into place in cities and towns all over the world.
Because there is so much negativity, I created this site to promote positive Pit Bull ownership and responsible care and management.
After all, we love our Pit Bulls and want the world to love them too, right?
We all know the stereotypes our dogs face however we face them too. When someone asks if you have a dog and you announce with great pride “I have a Pit Bull”, we all know that look we get. People believe what they read and because of that, we are already at a disadvantage.
My goal is to encourage good dog parenting by sharing stories and ideas (good and bad) and to bring awareness to discriminatory actions Pit Bulls and their owners face every day. As I take you along on my journey with Riley and Brooke, you will find all the information you need regarding your own dog. And if you don’t, please ask and we will discuss it.
- If you are raising a Pit Bull and have questions, please leave a comment and we can talk about it.
- If you are a new Bully owner and feel overwhelmed, I am here to help.
- If you are a long time Pit Bull owner and have great ideas to share, I would love to hear them. I am always open to learning!
- If you just want to brag about your dogs, I am all for that as well. 🙂
