Stop Breed Specific Legislation
Michigan residents, Make Michigan Next and stop BSL now. Please contact your local Representatives and ask them to vote YES on SB 239 and eliminate breed discrimination in our state.
Currently there are 12 Michigan districts that have Breed Specific Laws, including shelters AND rescues who cannot adopt Pit Bull type dogs. This means that most of these dogs are being euthanized, not because of their actions, but because of how they look.
Killed for how they look
Most of these dogs have done nothing wrong and deserve to have happy and loving homes.
What is SB 239?
SB 239 is a bill that would prohibit a local unit of government from enacting or enforcing an ordinance that regulates a dog based solely on breed or perceived breed. Pit Bull Advocates argue that discrimination against a dog, based solely on appearance, does nothing to ensure the safety of local residents. In fact, it does just the opposite.
SB 239 passed the Senate, after passing the Agricultural committee unanimously. It has now reached the House of Representatives.
If you would like to help Make Michigan Next, please sign the petition and contact your local representatives. This is needed now more than ever as anti-dog extremists from OUTSIDE of Michigan are contacting our state legislators, pretending to be Michigan residents, attempting to defeat SB 239.
We need ALL Michiganders to stand up and let their voices be heard.
